Info Regarding Orthodontia
The Friend of Court recognizes orthodontia as a valid health care expense, under these specific circumstances:
1- The requesting party has SOLE legal custody
<OR>
2- The parties have JOINT legal custody and parties were in agreement and have a signed contract agreeing to the treatment and cost PRIOR to the treatment plan commencing.
If one of the above are true and the other party refuses to cooperate regarding the orthodontic bill, the party requesting reimbursement for orthodontic expenses can obtain a Friend of Court Request for Health Care Expense Payment.
The request for reimbursement for orthodontic expenses will be processed in the same manner as all other requests for medical reimbursement.
As this is typically a monthly expense, the requesting party should submit this request for reimbursement, no more than one every three months.
