Shiawassee Central Dispatch-911 Technology Administrator


Shiawassee Central Dispatch is looking for an individual to join our team to be the new 911 Technology Administrator. This position will require the individual to work closely with the 911 Director, Deputy Director, Sheriff, Undersheriff and all other administrative staff to ensure that all technology software is well maintained and functioning appropriately at all times. This individual must be self- motivated and take initiative to assist this department in moving forward in a positive direction. We are seeking a proactive approach to help build this infrastructure and keep it moving forward in regards to software/ technology that will help create a user-friendly atmosphere for our end users. This will require he/ she to look for new up and coming technology to assist in maintaining the tools needed for our first responders to complete their work day. The position will be full time (80 hours/ week), nonunion, and require an on-call status. Below is a list job requirements/ description of the position.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. High school graduate or GED.
  2. Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
  3. Eligibility for CJIS certification.
  4. Able to lift equipment and stand when needed.
  5. Availability for on-call support as needed.

PREFERRED:

  1. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  2. Prior experience in the 911/public safety a must. Experience with Central Square OSSI a bonus.
  3. Experience working in a 911 center or similar environment.
  4. Certifications in network or server administration (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CCNA, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate).

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  1. Manage and support Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems, specifically Central Square products.
  2. Administer and maintain GIS mapping tools and databases both local and cloud for dispatch and police operations.
  3. Oversee network infrastructure, including: servers, firewalls, switches, and access points.
  4. Assist in the maintenance and the use of the county wide emergency alert system, Everbridge.
  5. Manage mobile computing systems, including Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) technology.
  6. Ensure high availability and reliability of critical communications systems.
  7. Develop and implement cybersecurity protocols in compliance with CJIS standards.
  8. Collaborate with dispatch personnel to resolve technical issues and optimize system performance.
  9. Provide training and support for technology users.
  10. Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and configurations.
  11. Maintain hardware and lifecycles.
  12. Assist 911 Director with Vendor relationships and budgeting for upgrades and replacements.
  13. Continuing education is a must with technology certifications as well as keeping up to date with 911 and public safety developments. Such as, attending the Interoperability Conference and the Technology forum held annually by the State of Michigan.
  14. Maintain a ticket system to make sure that the issues are being handled and addressed in a timely manner.
  15. Assist and maintain with the road patrol MCT computers. Road patrol means all Shiawassee County Sheriff’s Department and all law enforcement departments within Shiawassee County. While not many EMS/ Fire agencies have mobile computers, some are moving in that direction and will also be a requirement to assist in getting the computers function in their emergency vehicles as well. Ensure they have the appropriate updates and all functions of the MCT are working appropriately. This includes but not limited to: Computers, AVL systems and the functionality of the AVL systems and NCIC.
  1. Ensure any maintenance or impacting work is properly reviewed, approved and communicated to impacted stakeholders and 911 director, Including coordination of work by vendors.
  2. Ensure all backups of the radio system are working and be available for assistance if needed.
  3. Administer account management for applications including: CAD, VESTA, Talon, RapidSOS, PageGate, Everbridge and more.
  4. Position will require communication with the county IT services.
  5. Make sure that the ANI/ALI are working appropriately and transferring over to CAD as they should. Also review and maintain MSAG errors with in coordination of of INdigital.
  6. Assist the Director/ Deputy Director in maintaining the CAM/AIS server.
  7. Ensure that the Sheriff’s office is staying in compliance with the State Law reference the security awareness of the department and that all appropriate steps are being utilized and maintained to eliminate threats.

PAY SCALE/BENEFITS:

To be determined by County Board of Commissioners according to pay scale studies. Benefits will fall in line with county handbook due to non-union position.
